Enchant, bred and raised by Marlhill House Stud, made the perfect start to her career for Wathnan Racing on Sunday when successful in the 6f novice at Pontefract.
Trained by Karl Burke, the daughter of Wootton Bassett is out of our Listed-winning Galileo mare Sarrocchi.
“It was lovely,” said jockey Sam James. “I’ve sat on her at home and liked her. She’s still a bit on the weak side and she’ll improve a lot through the season. I was happy to take a lead off Dave Allan [on Bleep Test] – Tim’s filly is a fair yardstick and it’s not easy to beat a horse who’s had a few runs. I was trying to teach her as much as I could and she was tough. She will improve a fair bit.”
Enchant was sold as a yearling at the Goffs Orby Sale to JCH Bloodstock, who resold her to current connections as a Goffs UK breezer.
